Job Purpose
Perform audit work aiming at providing to the Energy and Trading Board Audit Committees and Management independent assurance over design and effectiveness of controls to mitigate current and emerging risks that the is facing.
Dimensions
The candidate will be exposed in majority of projects to the commodity house rading, but will also conduct audits in the Optimisation function (within ESCS).

Principal Accountabilities
Core Audit Works
• Undertake assigned audit work in accordance with recognised audit standards. This includes:
- Gathering information in all work areas efficiently and objectively
- Documenting and evaluating processes or systems
- Providing input to risk analysis
- Preparing audit points for inclusion in the formal audit report
- Taking minutes of a meeting and writing report memos
Special investigations
• Assist in special projects or investigations as well as audits in relation with fraud tracking and whistle blowing initiatives within the scope defined by the Internal Audit Director.
Client relationships
• Establish and maintain effective client relationships, understand client requirements to factor into planning and risk assessment activities.
• Provide senior management on a regular basis with exception reports on control deficiencies and follow up of the findings and recommendations.
• Attends opening and closing audit meeting and draft minutes.
Team Development
• Contribute to Internal Audit Team administrative procedures,
• Assist in the development and maintenance of audit tools and internal control mechanism,
• Share information with the Audit Team,
• Participate in audits with the Group Corporate Function
• Be responsible for own development and proactively identify areas for improvement.
Miscellaneous
• Provide regular updates on progress of work to lead auditor,
• Follow up audit recommendations under the direction of a senior auditor.
Nature and Scope
• Responsible for performing core audit work according to the audit project terms of reference and audit function methodology.
• Bring sound knowledge of key business area (trading and risk management) supporting significant contribution to the preparation and delivery of the terms of reference, findings analysis and risk assessment.
• Complete individual tests and conclude on the results relying on adequate audit strategies and tools.
• Be able to address and monitor compliance or internal control issues and to address governance and business improvement issues under supervision.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Qualifications
• University degree, most preferably in a quantitative subject
• Any of the qualifications (possibly in progress) from the following list:
- Auditing (e.g. IIA) or accounting (ACA, ACCA, CIMA etc.) qualification, or
- Financial qualification (CFA, ACT, SII, FRM etc.)
• Or equivalent experience in quantitative risk management or trading (support)
Technical skills
• Strong proven competencies in any of the following areas: Commodities (or other asset classes) trading, Financial Risk Management, Auditing, Quantitative Analysis
• Analytical/Data mining skills including solid operational knowledge of Excel (preferred knowledge of VBA, C++ or equivalent)
• Able to understand managerial issues and challenges
• Understand corporate governance issues (risks and controls)
Interpersonal skills
• Able to discuss audit findings with auditees and management; normal level of contact would be at managerial level with many opportunities to meet with senior management
• Strong questioning and listening skills
• Team spirit and coaching approach towards junior collabora
